Inspiration Monday.

I've always been crazy for Chanel haute couture, but when browsing for crochet flower ideas I stumbled across these glorious pieces from Chanel's 2015 spring collection. I've been thinking about using different materials, metallic yarns and sewing beads onto flowers. A Waffle and Neep couture collection maybe ha! I'm in to dreamy colours at the moment, pearlescent, iridescent shimmers. Any place I can insert a bit of glitter I'm happy.

I've recently finished an amazing pattern from June's simply crochet magazine. He's a rather large octopus - named by Freya 'squid'. By far one of the most challenging thing's I've ever made. But I'm now onto Octopus number 2. Here he is!

My wedding day!

It finally came and went! We were married on the 24th June, at 1pm in the afternoon, at a great venue called Grendon Lakes. The day was such a surreal moment. It all went well, there were of course a few problems but you really don't care on the day.
It was wonderful to see so many people you care about in one place, and everyone looked beautiful.
My two little flower girls wore my crochet crowns and just looked adorable. We had the best photographer, it was so nice to not feel overly posed and actually feel relaxed. I am so so happy with out photos. Our photographers name is Dale Weeks, go check him out hes awesome!
We now need to get our photo album and who knows how many prints done.

Have a great day!

Crochet crown photoshoot!

We went for a little photo shoot last week for some lovely photos of my girl wearing the crowns.
She's a great little model, mostly if she's bribed with chocolate but great non the less. Today I'm trying to organize my Etsy shop. I've been setting up listings, writing policies and figuring out shipping costs. All that's really left to do is take the final photos or the crowns. I've been after the perfect mannequin head but thought I'd DIY my own so that's my afternoon project.
I'm still working out the tutorials but my camera doesn't seem to be favoring macro shots at the moment. Not ideal.

Have a lovely week!

Two more to go

My goal was to always have a minimum of 10 crowns before I even thought about opening my shop, and I just have two more to finish! I've been as busy as I can be with Freya on school holidays. I've re-vamped my blog, worked on flower after flower and everything is mostly good to go. As soon as the last one is finished we'll be off for photo's. I need to figure out how to get good, quality close up photos, I feel a lightbox may be in order!

Photo's here are all from my phone, a recent rainbow crown before fixing - I really love that one! And a mermaid inspired crown below. I wasn't too sure on it to start with, quite possibly because of the lack of pink, pink just makes it, y'know? Plus at the bottom my ombre pink/red crown. I've found that tiny pom-poms are a great way to fill in spaces too.

Make sure you check back soon for some crochet tutorial basics. I'm just trying to get the photo's right. Photography really is my biggest downfall.

Shop opening!

I am so close to opening my shop! I'll be opening on Etsy, hopefully within the next month. I've listed one item just to get the feel of selling, but I will have an official opening date,
with special discounts. I'll be selling headbands, dreamcatchers, baby blankets, purses, boots cuffs, granny blankets and lots of things including pom pom's...of course. I need to make a few more things before.
Any ideas?

Happy weekend!

Flowers and rainbows

This month has been a fun one for makes! I put together the flower crown from the flowers I made a while ago. I found an old headband of Freya's that was perfect for putting together! I'd debated attaching it to a circle crown but wasn't sure how to fix it...then thought of attaching it to a piece of ribbon but figured it would be to heavy for little girls to keep on their heads all day. I need to make another one as they will be worn by our lovely little flower girls (Freya and her cousin) for our wedding next year. I have to incorporate crochet in somewhere right?

Below was supposed to be a Katniss inspired cowl from Hunger Games, I remember watching it and thinking how amazing it was. I found a crochet inspired pattern (here) but sadly I didn't make it long enough to wrap around like in the movies. But I still love it non the less.

Happy Tuesday!

Oh! And how do you fancy my new logo?
I LOVE IT.

Fast February

This month has been a busy one in terms of crocheting! I feel like I had quite a long break over Christmas, due to hand problems (over crocheting). But this month I've started a 'crochet club' and I have been teaching a few family members every Monday. I'm honestly so impressed with how quickly they've picked it up. So much faster than me, I'm fearing they'll be over taking me before I know it.

I managed to finish a blanket that I started in Autumn, and like many of my projects I became too interested in something else and left it behind. But I have vowed to finish a project before I start another. I'm only doing two at the moment...I'm almost there.

Below is going to be a crown for my daughter to wear at our wedding :) She and my niece are flower girls, so I'm still yet to make another. But I have more than a year so no rush. But I'm so pleased with how it's turning out. Flowers may be one of my favorite things to crochet. Fiddly but fun!

This evening I'm attempting to swap my blog over to www.waffleandneep.com but failing miserably. It's all so complicated.

Happy Tuesday x
