Knitting

This week I have been working some more on my tiny granny square blanket, which is the join as you go method. Its right up my street, I get too impatient with joining squares, I like seeing how the blanket is going to look straight away. My impatience is probably the reason for me having usually over five projects on the go,

I've looked back into starting knitting again too! I was briefly taught by my Dad when I was around ten years old, I could knit a scarf but thats as far as it went. Theres so many things I would love to be able to make, I'm a sucker for fair Isle, which of course you can crochet! But its a bit of a pain.
I'm sorry crochet you will always be my one true love.

Aren't they all dreamy?

JUST BLOODY DO IT.

From my new favorite artist Veronica Dearly.

Seriously guys. Actually I think this is more of a rant to myself. I have a constant argument inside my head. Half of it says 'get up, do what you REALLY want to do, What you've promised yourself your going to do'. Yet the other, irritating lazy side of my head tells me its fine to sit on the sofa, eating biscuits (yes usually whole packs) procrastinating on pinterest over weddings or crochet.

With the new year I felt like this was going to be the year. But with most unrealistic resolutions they have waved goodbye and waltzed out my door. Therefore after some more procrastinating around, I came across the Blogcademy and the super helpful videos on blogging that gave me the kick that I feel I needed. I've decided that this WILL be the year. This will be the year I stick to my blogging, I will work to becoming a happier person, and of course my crochet.

It's okay that I'm not getting it right the first time. But now is the time, and this is going on my wall.

October makes

This month has been a busy one! I've been making a lot of Christmas decorations, and getting ready for it in general. I'm always so behind and last minute. So this year will be a little different. I've made garlands, tree decorations, bows (which I think will be either bow ties or hair bows), little girl crowns, and I'm also maybe 3/4 way through a hexagon blanket.

I feel the need to make lots of blankets because it so cold already! We just want to cuddle up all day.

Granny Square Blanket

Just a little blanket I've very very almost finished. I just need to sew the ends in - something I have to learn to do as I go along -  and give it a steam. This blanket has been a long time coming! It was made in Stylecraft Special DK, a yarn I'm super fond of. I love all of the bright colours. Especially 'fuscia' (the amazing bright pink) I'm using it in far too many projects, but it's just too pretty.
This blanket perfectly fits Freya's toddler bed. I'm determined to make my first double bed sized blanket this year. But alike most other crocheters I have multiple creations on the go at once and get bored easily. I have so many new things to share over the next few weeks. All getting ready for an exciting project I'm working towards, which will be kept quiet for now!

Happy rainy weekend

Granny square poncho

I spent a couple days making a colourful poncho for Freya's 3rd birthday this Tuesday, I LOVED making this! They really don't take long to make and are so satisfying. I'd like to make her some more crochet clothes, little people sizes do not take long at all.

Its been quite quiet around here the past couple weeks, I managed to finally finish my spring cleaning. Although you would never guess looking at the house now! But at least I know I tried. I guess that's what happens with a messy 3year old and a feeding baby. We've mostly been watching Frozen, everyday, sometimes twice. It's a good job I quite like it, it's very charming. I definitely recommend it.

Excuse my terrible photo's, and I really must start using my actual photo backdrop. The shed door isn't quite as dazzling!

Happy Weekend.

Antique Photography

I love vintage and antique photography. Being able to actually look into the past is wonderful, plus some of them are utterly bonkers and fascinating. It's fun trying to guess what and why they were taken. My favorite are old circus photo's, and the victorian staged one. I've seen photo's of bears lying on people, children smoking, skeletons set up in real life poses and goats on slides.

My favorite is definitely the third photo! They are the most stylish ladies I've ever seen. And I would totally rock the bottom right pair of sunglasses.

Bettering myself

This week has been a long one. I'm attempting to spring clean at the moment, which is harder than it sounds with a clingy baby. Not to mention the fact that he sleeps for 30 odd minutes in total per day. I love spring cleaning, it gives me the chance to minimize as much as I can. When we first moved out the amount of 'stuff' and clutter I had was unreal. I like things to be as simple and as tidy as possible because it needs to be easy to manage with two children!

I always see spring as a new start, more so than the start of a new year. I always feel so much different when it starts to warm up. Speaking of new starts, I've been looking for a distance learning course for a number of months. I've looked into criminology, astronomy and some sort of creative course. I've always been fascinated with all of them, but I do miss the art side of school! I used to have hours and hours of art and design a week and miss having the chance to be more creative. I'd love something that ties into setting my own craft business up so a dress making course seemed like the best thing I could do! I've found a wonderful double course on fashion and dress making, that I'm hoping to start in June after our holiday. It would be great to make well constructed dolls with beautiful clothing. Learning a little haute couture is included too!

The idea of knowing how to making clothing like this is dreamy! I'd quite happily live in a different coloured sequin skirt everyday.
